GODERICH: SMART 4-Point Program

11:00 AM | 125 Wolfe St, Goderich

SMART’s 4-Point Program is an effective doctor-endorsed and evidence-based guide to recover from mental-health conditions, including addictions, and can help you:
1. Build and Maintain Motivation.
2. Deal with Urges.
3. Manage Thoughts, Feelings, Emotions, Moods, and Behaviours.
4. Live a Healthy and Balanced Life.
Come to a Powerful Peer-Support Meeting for:
• Simple, practical self-help tools that work!
• Thought provoking questions to answer.
• Discussion of the pros and cons of specific behaviours.
• Discussion of job skills and financial management concepts.
Additionally, you can learn how to deal with 'stinking thinking' that leads to trouble!
You can decide for yourself what problems to work on without being told what to do or believe.
This is not like a diet with a long list of restrictions to follow; it’s more like a buffet where you get to choose what you like and what works for you!
This program can help improve lives on a holistic level, focusing on solutions rather than labels or diagnoses.
This is a program that works for me and I'm confident it can work for you, too.
Is there a cost? SMART is a non-profit organization that offers free, self-empowering, mutual-help groups to recover from mental health conditions including addictions. I'm a partner affiliate of SMART and make a monthly donation to the organization... so I'll be passing the hat to get some change (not unlike the tradition in 12-step meetings). So, no cost, except a small donation if you're able.

2024 Fall Leaf Pickup

8:00 AM | South Huron

The Municipality of South Huron will be starting fall leaf bag collection on

Monday, October 21, 2024 until Friday, November 8, 2024 for all South Huron residents.

Please ensure that bags weigh no more than 23kg (50lbs). Please note that staff will not pick up overweight bags, bags that are not biodegradable paper bags, or bags that contain other waste such as garbage or animal feces.

Please note that there will not be a specific day that leaf bags are picked up. Staff will pick up bagged leaves on a weekly basis throughout the time period noted above, as the weather permits.

As a reminder, once the collection period has ended, staff will no longer collect any items that are set curbside. You may take your leaf and debris to the South Huron Landfill free of charge at any time. Please refer to the South Huron website for Landfill operating hours.

Brush pickup will occur on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 and will be a single day event. Brush must be bundled and tied in four foot (4’) lengths or less.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.
